So hey all, i just began getting into something called twittering.  Twitter.com is a site that is sort of a social networking activity but that allows updating from mobile devices, your computer, etc during the day just by sending text messages about what you're doing, where you are, or whatever you want.  You can access my twitter by clicking on the follow me link in the upper right hand corner of our blog under twitter stuff.  You guys should all do this and we can even keep more in touch.

My New Obsession

Ever since I was in high school, I've loved guns. My buddies and I (Kyle Downs, & Brian Munk) used to go out to various areas in the cache valley camping and used to go out to the marshes down by Brian's house and just shoot stuff. I finally decided this last christmas to get my first gun. I bought a 12 gauge Remington shotgun and was determined to get my hunters safety done. So in february I signed up and got it over with so I could go get my first hunting license. My new obsession is hunting and anything that has to do with it. So in March, I called Brian to see if he would be interested in going turkey hunting during the spring season, which of course he was very willing to do. During the next couple of months I bought various items to do this like calls, camo, and ammunition which was spendy but worth it.
So two weeks ago, we took off up into Maple Creek Canyon just east of Franklin to seek out our gobblers at a little after 5:00 AM. We arrived at the mountain just after 6 when the sun was just coming up. We hiked to the top of one of the hills and began our search. We spotted a gobbler and a few hens on another peak across the canyon from us and became excited that they were out. We spent the morning searching for sign and calling occasionally. But to no avail did we hear anything. We did see a few but they were well out of distance and had spotted us before we had spotted them. We left just after ten and decided to come back up later that night to search a different area. We got up there around 4:30 and stayed til 8:30 or so again with no luck. We found plenty of tracks and scat from that morning, but did not see anything very recently. So Brian and I decided to go back down to the truck and his brother decided to come a little while later after checking out another spot.
I unloaded my gun before getting on the 4-wheeler, sure we were finished and wouldn't see anything. Not a minute and a half into the ride down however, we came upon 4 jacks and about 5 hens crossing a drift of snow not more than 50 yards ahead of us. Had we been able to get just behind them we'd have been within 30 yards (well in distance for a good shot from a 12 gauge) and I'd have been able to have a chance at one. But by the time i got my gun loaded they were 80 yards+ away. Of course after that I left my gun loaded with hopes that I'd seen another but of course we didn't. Frustrating to say the least but very exhilarating. Being up in the brisk air of the mountains, in the wild, was so awesome (especially with a gun in my hands :)
The hunt thankfully doesn't end until the end of may so I still am planning on getting a few more opportunities to get my gobbler.

9 WORDS WOMEN USE

1. Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
4. Go Ahead : This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
5. Loud Sigh: This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)
6.That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
7.Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome.
8.Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying F#%@ YOU!
9. Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response, refer to #3.

KIDS!!!!

Gavin has such a funny language. You can understand the "real" words he says, but then he starts throwing in all these other "words" (actually sounds that fill the spaces) and it sounds like this "Mommy Yeagy eh uh wah hit huh heh me." It's funny, sometimes he is upset and talking like that and I can't keep a serious face.
Ryan's favorite sentence of Gav's is "I want a wink a waga." (drink of water) It's pretty funny.
One more funny Gav moment. You know when we as parents are trying to get kids super excited about something so we think gasping after the sentence will do it, well Gavin has picked right up on that. He will run in the front room from his room and say "mommy, I play with my car, gasp of air." Then he stands there until he gets the reaction he wants.
Oh kids are so funny and they ARE watching and listening.

My nephew was out w/his family a few weeks ago and was listening to his dad talk a worker. Well, when it was the workers turn to respond, he spoke rather fast and Asher looked up at him and said "Wo man you better slow down or you'll get bubbles in your mouth." I cried laughing so hard. Kids really do say the darndest things.

Snoop Dogg & Mormonism

Okay okay, so many of you may have heard of this recent article by "cnn.com" about Snoop Dogg investigating the mormon church. Here's the link: www.benderboyz.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/01. Brandi and I were amazed as those of you that read it may have been. Well come to find out, it's not true. Notice at the VERY bottom of the page the statement right above the terms and conditions. We were both excited and amazed until we found that out but the gospel is still true. Even if some rapper isn't....yet! :)
